April 2023

The month began with the creation of a gallery added to the Website to capture any pictures of Altered Abilities events and accomplishments. I attended the monthly Synapse meeting where 2 new members came to find out what it is all about. Meetings took place to discuss possible presentations out in the community. I spoke with Alan from VoxFM for an interview on his Headway program updating on Altered Abilities concept and services, my book and current works at Unanderra Train Station.

During the middle of the month, I had a discussion from Mich-Elle Myers from the Maritime Union of Australia’s Head Office regarding an opportunity to speak at the upcoming Women’s Forum for the Southern NSW Branch located at Port Kembla later in the month although this has now been postponed until early May. A review of presentation content took place to ensure currency of material and I visited both South Coast Private Hospital and Wollongong Community Mental Health to as a networking exercise and offer services.

I reached out to the South Coast Writer’s Centre to enquire on their services and decided it was worthwhile becoming a member to assist with networking opportunities that may arise. Towards the end of the month, I was approached to participate in a review of the Sex and Intimacy Fact Sheet for the Stroke Foundation and I arranged to meet with Sandy at the South Coast Writer’s Centre to find out more about the services on offer.
