May 2023

Started with a bang presenting Altered Abilities to the MUA Southern NSW Branch as part of their Women’s Forum. An awesome day working with an outstanding group of ladies explaining the concept behind Altered Abilities and brainstorming for changes to improve the workplace. Website maintenance and administration were high on the priority list to ensure information and records are up to date. I touched base with South Coast Writer’s Centre to explore the range of services available to promote Shit!! I’m 26 and had a Stroke further out into the community. I spoke with Sophie at the Young Stroke Project in relation to the proposed 2023 pitching and possibilities for content or ideas.

Living Books was postponed until later in the month for Five Islands Secondary College, a day spent with a great group of young adults keen to hear more about my journey rehabilitating after a Brain Stem Stroke and the determination, resilience and belief to overcome the challenges that arose during my 7½ months in hospital. I attended the Berkeley Neighbourhood Centre Biggest Morning Tea, the turn out of the local community was very encouraging with over 60 people taking part on the day. The month ended with a ABC Interview regarding the Opening of the Lifts at Unanderra Station, Towradgi had been opened at the start of the week with hints to watch this space for Unanderra.
